Max Malyuta and the Memorial Tournament
Max Malyuata was a young Russian immigrant who was an important and beloved supporter of chess in Rhode Island. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 25 from meningitis. To honor his memory, the Rhode Island Chess Association sponsors an annual memorial tournament to help send the RI high school boy and girl champions to nationals.
Although most donations come from the tournament entry fees, further donations of any amount are welcome.
